Trained under Igor Kurinnoy, Merited Master of Sports in Sambo and director of the Boretz sports school in Moscow.
Two training camps at the SPARTAK Olympic Training Center in Alushta, where Russia builds its Sambo.
Mantis Kung Fu Gold/Challenge Sash under GM Kwon Chun (1992), then Aikido, JKD, Boxing, BJJ, then Started Sambo 2006 under Serge Gerlach.

Started in Mantis Kung Fu from 1986 to 1995, ten years of one system before the cross-training years in Rochester, training with experts across styles. For a decade Rob called himself an Anything Goes Martial Artist, pulling from Aikido, JKD, Boxing, and BJJ.
Then Sambo, in 2006. Sport and Combat Sambo, exclusively, ever since. Years with the CaliSambo team, then his own room: FitFight / Bay Area Combat Sambo. Moscow and Crimea to train at the source. A move to Tahoe in 2017, where FitFight closed. Teaching again since 2020, underground, out of his fight garage.
Now on the road with pop-up seminars, nationally and internationally. A regular at the Renaissance Martial Arts Yearly Gathering in Rochester NY every fall, and most recently taught at the Saratoga Martial Arts Festival in New York.
